My "baby" brother is married . . .

The wedding was yesterday - and it was beautiful (despite the pouring rain). ALL the kids walked down the aisle willingly (there were eight of them five and under)! Everyone looked amazing, the reception was lots of fun, and the best part - two wonderful people were married.

Last week . . .

We're in our last week of summer but you wouldn't be able to tell from the weather we're having. I even had to dig out some warmer clothes for the girls this morning. It's the week of my brother's wedding so we've had a few things to keep us busy with that - and we're hoping for the weather to turn a bit warmer. And the last week before school begins - which we're all very excited about around here. The girls keep asking how many more sleeps. I went to a preschool meeting last night and was very impressed with how many different activity areas there are in the classroom and how excited the teacher is to teach these little ones. It's also the last week of having all my girls home full time - which I'm not really sad about. They need some separate time and hopefully they'll be fighting less when they get back together again. And maybe Alyssa will actually start walking without her big sisters picking her up all the time and carrying her around.

New haircut and a new outfit

Chantel has been bugging me for weeks to get her hair cut short. She even went so far as to try and get her sister to do it for her. When I found the curls that had been cut off, I caved in and told her she could get it done. But she wouldn't let me do it either, she wanted the whole haircut experience at the salon. So since it was her first professional cut, it was free at a local hairdresser. It does look cute but I miss the longer locks and thankfully the curl has stayed for now.

The outfit she's wearing was supposed to be for her big sister but after making it and trying it on, it just suited Chantel way better - I'll have to decide on a different pattern for Elayna.

It's August already?

We're still enjoying the beautiful weather and now we're on the last month before school starts - a first around here. We're sleeping in late, and have absolutely no routine right now (except Alyssa's naps) and it's soooo nice.

I picked up a bike trailer from Cheapcycle today and the kids are loving it. Now I just have to get a bike so I can join them!

this is more like it . . .

Playing a pretend slumber party at 2 in the afternoon (she was out of her PJ's but went back in them). I love it when they get caught up in a game, especially when it lasts for an hour. I haven't been feeling well the last few days so it's also nice that they're keeping themselves occupied today. I've just been sore and tired and going back and forth to the doctor to run tests. It looks like they've figured out the problem, and it looks like it's nothing serious. But it just has to run its' course. So until then, I'll be going to bed early (like last night I slept from 8-8) and taking lots of Advil.
