randomness . . .

So we've having some HOT days and trying to make the most of it. Swimming lessons has started and it's been a great morning-killer. They're usually followed by an outdoor lunch, some quiet time while Alyssa naps, and then the kiddie pool and sprinkler on the trampoline in the afternoon. So lots of outdoor time for the girls even though we have no camping plans this summer.
I'm also in the last couple weeks of part-time babysitting my niece before I take a break for preparing for baby. Alyssa and her have a pretty on and off relationship - usually depending on the dynamics of what older sisters are around. I thought it was a cute photo-op when they both stood in corners last week for hitting each other. Hopefully the break from babysitting will turn them into buddies instead of the sister-type relationship that they have right now.
The kitchen's been at a stand-still the last couple days. Next will be paint, window casings, and floor. But the last couple days have been spent on the fence which should hopefully be finished tomorrow.

cover-up . . .

Since swimming lessons is starting up next week, I made the girls some cover-ups to help make getting ready in the morning a little quicker (I have THE pickiest girls when it comes to what to wear). Here's a pic of Chantel's.

day 8 of reno . . .

Kitchen is ahead of schedule! Two new windows and a new patio door, all the drywall is done, and everything is covered in a nice layer of drywall dust.
Fence is down and posts are painted.

day 2: more progress

So day one saw a wall taken down, the closet/pantry walls taken down and electrical moved a bit. Today the electrical was finished, the outside door closed up and the window closed up (and outside door moved there), and a furnace stack coming behind a wall in our kitchen was straightened to give us a couple more inches for a bigger pantry cupboard. Getting ready for drywall and new windows and patio door!

baking with the AC on . . .

Seems I've been short on snacks around here since I don't need to stock them for school lunches right now, so we baked up a batch of cookies yesterday in our new oven (the first step in our kitchen reno happening this summer).
